This video clip was made by Karoo Culture. It portrays the Xhosa culture through traditional songs and dances. The Xhosa people is of Bantu origin and is spread over the breadths of South Africa. The Xhosa tribe is divided into multiple tribes, Mpondomise being one of them. The Xhosa people refer to themselves as umXhosa (singular) or amaXhosa (plural). Their traditional language is isiXhosa. The Xhosa people believe in ancestors as well as traditional healers.

Circumcision 
Circumcision is the surgical removal of the skin covering the tip of the penis. It is a common ritual in the Xhoa culture, called the Abakwetha. In the Xhosa Language, aba means a group, while kwetha meats to learn, hence the word “Abakwetha”, meaning a group learning. What are they learning? To become men through circumcision. Five youths at a time are circumcised, ages 17 to 20 years The group of five live together in a specially constructed hut (sutu), which becomes their home for three months while they undergo the transformation from youth to manhood.
